CRACK is often the first sound a Kobold hears when it is born next to the mumbling and snickering. A crack, then that leads to a certain silence. It it said that when a kobold dies, their spirit will be transferred into the next egg. That if you were a strong mighty warrior lizard, then you will carry that honor and strength into your next life.
This is not the case of this kobold. The first sound he heard when he was born was more of a CRASH that was followed by laughter as the egg he was oh so well resting inn, had fell over and cracked.Leading to him being hatched a little too early. “Ohh, look who is finally out of his shell?”, “Is it Ssithik back at it”? They joked, as Ssithik means “lesser shade” in the local tongue. The last fallen kobold was a terrible rogue that died by stumbling down some stairs while stealing gold from a rich family nearby. (That ended up with his whole squad being killed, but you know, details..)
Ssithik raised his head in confusion as looked at the kobolds around him. Thankfully he was too young (And stupid) at this point to really understand what was going on, so he simply gave them a cute reptile smile, that melted the tribes heart. The tribe was a nameless tribe, as the leader did not find the value in discussing names as they could use that time to eat good food and hunt for treasures they could sacrifice to their great dragon instead. But the local village that was aware of their existence gave them the honorable name of Dirt eaters as they sometimes had to eat dirt to survive, as their logistics manager was known eat their food rations instead of managing them.
The Dirt eaters was a great place to grow up. Ssithik was only enslaved by the elders half his life and got to eat the good dirt when he did not complain too much about his rock bed being bad for his tail. He even got to eat the local wildlife as long as he wasn’t caught! He lived here for 9 years and usually worked tunnel digging, hunting and taking care of eggs as he lacked skills with combat and sneaking.
